I wrote a brief analytical piece (“The politics of Presidential planes“) on the news, for NEXT, here

Excerpt:

“Wednesday’s news also implies a lengthening of the country’s questionable expenditure list – which already includes 17 billion naira worth of 50th anniversary celebrations – a development that is nothing short of a tragedy in a country proposing to issue bonds to finance coming Presidential elections.”

  1. The phone makes a lot of sense but my issue would be about cost and getting people to be on the nokia messaging the way BIS works. If connectivity with BIS is available the the phone is a hot sell. If not, then that would be a challenge.
